Shooting- Rifle- Large Bore

Get ready to feel the power and precision of high-calibre marksmanship at the Large Bore Shooting Competition. Whether you're a seasoned shooter or a newcomer eager to test your skills, this event promises adrenaline-pumping action, camaraderie, and top-tier competition; it's the perfect stage to showcase your accuracy and control with the big guns.

Competition Categories: 

  • Unisex

Competition Structure: 

  • Competitors will fire both Short and Long Range competitions consisting of 2 sighters and 10 counting shots per range.
  • Competitors will use approved weapons and ammunition – see both QRA and NRAA websites.

Tuesday 13th October 2026:

  • Short Range Comp will be shot over 300, 500 and 600 yards.

Wednesday 14th October 2026:

 

  • Long Range Comp will be shot over 800, 900 and 1000 yard.

Check in: No later than 30mins prior to the start of the event.

 

Toilets: Yes.

 

Changerooms: No.

 

First Aid: Basic first aid available, please see your sports coordinator if required.

 

Food and Beverage: Competitors are encouraged to bring their own meals and snacks. A fridge and microwave are available for use. Bottled water can be purchased. Tea and coffee making facilities are available. Shops are 3.3kms away.

 

Getting there: Competitors will need to source and arrange their own transport to this event and venue.  

 

Free vehicle parking is available at the venue with space for minibuses if required.

 

Accommodation: Please be aware that the Belmont Shooting Complex is approximately 72kms away from Surfers Paradise and the Pacific Motorway (M1) is usually extremely congested during peak hours.  Accommodation is available within the Belmont shooting complex. Please note: if you are staying near Belmont and are flying in, the closest airport would be Brisbane.

 

International Competitors: International visitors wanting to use weapons in Australia require special permits from Australian police before arrival.  Please refer to the hyperlink for information: Applying for a visitor’s licence | QPS

 

Firearms and Travel within Queensland: If you are travelling to Queensland with your firearms for an approved AP&ES Games shooting event, please bring your physical firearms licence card (Electronic copies will not be accepted) as proof for sport and target shooting. The Queensland Weapons Act 1990 & Weapons Regulations 2016 recognise interstate licenses for sport and target shooting.  Storage and transporting weapons in Queensland are covered in Sections 95 & 96 of the Weapons Regulation 2016.

Firearms Storage: The Queensland Police Pistol Club can offer safe storage of your firearm/s during your stay.  Prior arrangements must be made with the Sports coordinator.
