Who can compete in the Games?

  • To be eligible to compete, participants must be employees (serving/sworn, unsworn/corporate staff), or registered volunteers from eligible agencies from Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, and the Pacific Islands.
  • Retired and separated employees with 10 or more years of service may also participate.
  • All competitors must be 18 years or over at the time of the Games.

How do I register to compete or volunteer?

Follow the links on the Games website to register – www.apandesgame.com.au

    • Registrations for competitors open on 1 July 2024.
    • Registrations for volunteers will open a couple of weeks later.
    • Registrations close for all participants (Competitors, Team Managers and Official Supporters) on 31 January 2025. After this date no more entries will be accepted.

Where will the sporting events be held?

All venue details will be available on the AP&ES Games Website when registrations are opened. The majority are within a short distance from the Hobart CBD.

Where is the Games Hub?

The Games Hub will be Princes Warf No. 1 (PW1), located on Hobart’s waterfront in the heart of the historic Salamanca, just 5 minutes’ walk from the Hobart CBD.

What does my APES 2025 Registration Fee cover?

Your APES 2025 entry fee contributes to the overall running of the Games. It includes your entry to the opening and closing ceremonies, unlimited entry to the Games Hub and evening entertainment and your branded 2025 Games bag full of goodies. The Entry Fee is distinct from the sport fees which go directly towards running each sporting event.

Where do I collect my accreditation pass and my registration pack?

At the Registration Desk, located within the Games Hub. Opening hours of the Hub will be communicated closer to the Games.

What happens if I can’t attend to register between Registration Desk opening hours?

Please email us at APESGamesHobart2025@dpfem.tas.gov.au so we can discuss alternative arrangements.

What do I need to collect my Accreditation?

When you attend the Games Hub to register and collect your accreditation pass you will need to provide the following for proof of identity and employment:

  1. Current Employees of Emergency Services (which includes Volunteers of Emergency Services): Your Agency Identification / Volunteer ID / Volunteer Number and Passport / Drivers Licence
  2. Retired / Previous employees of Emergency Services: Certificate of Service and Passport / Drivers Licence
  3. You will also need to bring a copy of your registration receipt. We are happy to view this on your mobile device or a printed copy.

Why do I need my Accreditation Pass?

You will need your Accreditation Pass to check in and participate at your events. If you do not have your Accreditation Pass, you will not be able to compete.

Can someone register on my behalf?

No. All participants are required to check in at the Registration Desk at the Games Hub (PW1) in person before playing sports or taking part in an activity.

For safety and security, we cannot accept someone checking you in on your behalf. This includes Teams. Each Team Member is required to check in individually at the Games Registration.

General Information

What is the Games Hub and where will it be?

The Games Hub will house the registration and information desk and is a place to relax and enjoy the company of fellow competitors throughout the Games. Entertainment will be provided on some evenings and some sports will also occur here. The location of the Games Hub is Princes Wharf No.1, Salamanca.

When is the Games Hub open?

The Games Hub will be open every day of the Games from 15 to 22 March. Specific opening times will be confirmed closer to the Games.

If I am participating in the Opening Ceremonies ‘Athletes March’, what do I need to be aware of?

The Athletes March is a celebration and welcoming of all Athletes to the 19th APES Games, 2025. All Athletes participating in the Games are encouraged to represent their State, Territory and / or Country by taking part in the march. It will be held on Saturday 15 March 2025 – more details to follow closer to the time.

What should I wear for the Athletes March?

All participants in the March must wear their accreditation pass.

Wear your APES 2025 Games State shirt or team uniform and represent your team.

Make sure you are wearing comfortable shoes as you will be required to walk and stand in the lead-up to and during the Opening Ceremony.


What days are the Sports on?

The Sports events are spread over the 11 days of the APES 2025 Games. The full Sport Schedule can be found on the website www.apandesgames.com.au

How much does it cost to participate?

The cost is comprised of two different fees. There is a set games entry fee that contributes to the overall delivery of the Games, and each sport also has its own entry fee. Your total cost will depend on the number of sports you register for.

How many Sports disciplines can I enter?

You can enter as many Sports disciplines / events as you wish. However, it is the competitor’s responsibility to check the Sports Schedule prior to registration to ensure their chosen sports / disciplines do not clash.

If I am part of a team do, I still need to register?

Yes, every team member needs to register, pay the games fee and sports fee.

If you are entering a team, your manager or captain MUST create the team in the registration process first. Other team members will then get an invite and can register and ‘join a team’ using the Team Name or Code supplied by your team manager.


Do you have volunteers?

Yes, there are a wide range of volunteering opportunities available that cover all sports and venues at the APES Games. Volunteer roles are varied, and a range of skills and experience are required. Supporters and Friends & Family

I would like to bring my partner or supporter(s) to the games, do I need to do anything?

If you would like your partner or supporter(s) to access the Games Hub and social functions, they are required to register as an Official Supporter. There is an Official Supporter Fee that entitles your partner or supporter(s) to an accreditation pass, registration pack and access to social events at the Games Hub.
