Charli Bliss

Athlete, Police Recruit & Ambassador

Charli Bliss is an accomplished Australian basketballer who has played in the NBL1 circuit for both the Mackay Meteorettes and the South West Metro Pirates. A standout centre, she represented Mackay in the 2023 First Nations Round— even inspiring the Meteorettes’ distinctive uniforms with her own indigenous-inspired artwork. In 2024 she continued her career with the South West Metro Pirates in NBL1 North.

In 2025, Charli commenced recruit training at the Queensland Police Academy. She is set to graduate on 4 December 2025 and will begin her role as a First Year Constable with South Brisbane District General Duties. This year she joined a cohort of 136 new recruits dedicated to enhancing frontline service across Queensland.

Charli has been invited to serve as an ambassador for the Australasian Police & Emergency Services Games to be held on the Gold Coast in October 2026, a fitting role that mirrors her dedication to both sporting excellence and community service.

Montanna McAvoy

Highlights at a glance

Montanna McAvoy has excelled as a middle distance and steeplechase runner.  She has represented her country on numerous occasions displaying her drive, passion and tenacity to her chosen sport.

She is a Constable attached to the Capricornia District, currently working out of North Rockhampton Police Station as a General Duties Officer. She has always loved sport and has competed since a young age alongside her 5 siblings including her brother Hunter, who she recently joined in the QPS.

Montanna has been invited to serve as an ambassador for the Australasian Police & Emergency Services Games to be held on the Gold Coast in October 2026, a suitable acknowledgement of her commitment, determination and dedication.

Hunter McAvoy

Athlete, Police Officer & Ambassador

Hunter McAvoy has excelled in both running and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.  His commitment and drive towards excellence has seen him compete at a National level.

He is currently an Acting Senior Constable on Palm Island located off the coast of Townsville, Queensland. He has worked on Palm Island in this role for two years as a General Duties officer and has had some opportunities to relieve with the Police Citizens Youth Club during this time. He has always loved sport which is a massive part of his life. 

Hunter has been invited to serve as an ambassador, alongside his younger sister Montanna, for the Australasian Police & Emergency Services Games to be held on the Gold Coast in October 2026, as recognition of his sporting excellence.
